Author Tips
Top-down approach
Start from structuring an entire book rather than polishing individual chapters first. Outline the key concepts for each chapter to make sure the content flows smoothly and logically
The less, the better
If deleting a sentence makes no difference in understanding your concept, it is better to get it removed. Technical writing and fiction writing are not the same: make your style concise and crystal clear.
Focus on your audience
Target the potential audience to ensure that the manuscript is neither too complicated nor too trivial. Keep the same accessible level throughout the entire book and do not mix the extremes.
In the readers’ shoes
Avoid untimely editing
Editing as you go is a weak praactice. Rather than writing a few sentences and polishing to perfection, try completing a whole notional part - as long as possible.
Delivery and Publication
Finally, your book is printed and we check its quality. We will send advanced copies to you, reviewers, and contributors. After the last cor rections are done, we start commercial printing through one of our contractor print house. We distribute your book via our developed sale network and by direct marketing.
Avoid a content bubble
The worst technical books are these that include a huge amount of reference documents like examples of agreements or operating manuals. Cannot make a decent volume without these? It is better not to start it at all.

1. Proposal SubmissionAs a potential author you submit a proposal to our acquisitions editor. Next, we make an assessment of your proposal getting a feedback from the leading AI experts. We may ask you to adjust a proposal following the comments from our referees. After that we make our own marketing research to estimate costs and profitability. 2. ContractOnce the proposal has been approved, we will send you a contract. We will negotiate its terms to take into account your needs and peculiarities of the book. After the contract is signed, we will provide you with information to help you prepare your manuscript.
3. Manuscript DevelopmentIn the contract, we specify the dates of submitting each chapter of your manuscript. Since we start the marketing campaign prior to the publication date, it is vital you to adhere the agreed delivery schedule. We will keep in regular contact with you to follow your prog ress and provide assistance, if needed.
4. Delivery of ManuscriptOnce your manuscript is delivered, we start preparing it for publication. This includes assembling preformatted chapters, typesetting, embedding pictures and tables, and finishing the artwork. At this stage we will design the cover of your book. Note that we transform the submitted chapters to publishing format right away, when you deliver them. This way we provide the fastest production time.
5. ProductionThis step includes the final touch-up of the editorial process, when the semi-ready manu script becomes ready for printing and binding. We will make proofreading and indexing according to our in-house formats. This is done by our permanent staff or freelancers.
6. Delivery and PublicationFinally, your book is printed and we check its quality. We will send advanced copies to you, reviewers, and contributors. After the last cor rections are done, we start commercial printing through one of our contractor print house. We distribute your book via our developed sale network and by direct marketing.
7. MarketingProper marketing process is crucial for professional investment books, since it differs drastically from that of other publications. Such books can be hardly distributed through the classic bookshop chains, because of the unique readership. The most effective way of marketing is direct promotion of the books to the specified market: institutions, hedge funds, financial advisors and so on. We at HFB maintain our own proprietary database of the potential audience focusing on alternative investments.
8. ReprintsIf the book is selling successfully, it will be reprinted. Using the latest publishing techniques, it becomes an easy task. However, to enhance the quality of the book, we will try correcting the minor errors that could be missed during the first print. Therefore, we will ask you to check thoroughly the content of your book again ensuring better quality for the second reprint.
